After Christmas I have been busy running trains, installing wire in tube point machines, ballasting, and finishing a decoder install on a Kato RDC.
The wire in tube install and ballasting have been waiting for two or three months to be done. The photos show a couple of details. The wire in tube detail is below.
In spreading the ballast, for some reason, I start using the finger once or twice to help with ballasting.
Yesterday I had an Operations Session with Ellis, a chap in the local model train group. We worked out that old eye sight is a disadvantage, and the main yards are good for staging, but hinders the main line when sorting cars.
A couple of months ago the RDC decoder install went badly and I put it aside for a while. It had pick up problems which I solved by soldering the end pickup wires to the trucks and electrical pickup strips. Also soldered the decoder to the main electrical strips. The CVs for the correct light directions had to be changed as well. The RDC runs perfect now.
